Dedon Mbarq is Dedon outdoor furniture built like a room within the yard. Sebastian Herkner gave the modules tall, rounded backs and deep cushions, so a sofa on an open lawn or roof deck feels sheltered.

About the collection
An alcove you can set down outdoors
Herkner took the indoor alcove as his starting point, the nook where you retreat to read or talk. Mbarq's backs rise high and curve around the seat, which gives you privacy on an open terrace. Arrange the modules to mark out zones: a corner for work, one for a nap, one for conversation.
The system is made of sofa modules, daybed modules and a footstool. Dedon lists a 3-seater, a 3-seater with a high backrest, left and right modules, and daybeds that open to the left or right. The backs come in more than one height, so one group can mix low and tall sections.
The weave is a semi-transparent triaxial pattern of Dedon Fiber that works like a basket around the cushions. Herkner and colorist Giulio Ridolfo used three fiber colors in each weave, treating it like a textile. The fiber is made in northern Germany, woven by hand on Cebu Island, and resists sun, salt water and chlorine.
Under the weave sits a powder-coated aluminum frame in terracotta, nori or lipari. Aluminum keeps the modules light enough to rearrange, stays strong, and holds up well in rain and sun. Cushions come in Dedon fabric families including Natura, Caleo, Tucson, Gaia, Muse, Nube and Borneo.
